About us

We are a medium-sized social landlord, owning or managing 8,300 homes in the south west. Most of our properties are in South Gloucestershire but we also have homes in Bath and North East Somerset and Bristol. We employ 400 staff to deliver our services.

Our vision is: "Quality homes, excellent services and strong communities, with customers at the heart of all that we do."

Since the transfer with residents' input, we have changed the way we deliver housing and supported housing services. We have also completed our decent homes improvement works to residents’ homes. We are now bringing all our homes up to the Merlin standard.

Our properties are home to more than 16,000 people. The five minute film below shows just what it means to two of our residents to have an affordable home of their own - the Robinson family from Downend, and Lily Yeo who lives in one of our sheltered housing schemes.

Merlin Housing Society is a not-for-profit organisation, and we are regulated by the Homes and Community Agency. We have adopted as our code of governance the National Housing Federation’s  code; Excellence in Governance 2010. We have also adopted the National Housing Federations; Excellence in Standards of conduct code for members 2010. This is the code that our Board members sign up to when they join the Board.
