We own 7,800 residential properties in South Gloucestershire, and have a number of different options, including property for single people, families and sheltered accommodation, if you wish to rent a home from us.
However, you should be aware that demand for social housing in the area far outstrips the number of properties available. In 2007-08 we let 609 properties to new residents.
HomeChoice
We do not hold our own waiting list for housing. The housing register is held by South Gloucestershire Council, which operates a choice-based lettings system, called HomeChoice. You can register with the scheme by completing an online form on the HomeChoice website, or by contacting the council's housing department on 01454 868005 and asking them to send you a form. The council has also produced a list of frequently asked questions about using the scheme.
Exchanging your property
Merlin is registered with HomeSwapper, the national network which allows tenants of social landlords to swap homes. If you are a Merlin tenant and want to move homes, you can register with HomeSwapper and search for a home anywhere in the country. Similarly if you are a tenant with another social landlord and want to move to a Merlin home, you can register with HomeSwapper and search for a new home.
