Merlin gives residents the skills to make a difference

Merlin Housing Society has launched a free training programme for residents to give them the skills to make a difference in their communities.
Over the next six months residents will be given the chance to brush up on their IT skills, as well as learning about how to raise money for their community projects and getting the lowdown on how Merlin works. The free courses have been introduced after residents said they wanted more training to help them make a difference with Merlin.
Service Delivery Manager Hazel Gray said: “Our goal is to have residents at the heart of all that we do. But we need to make sure that they have got all the necessary skills and knowledge to help them do this. We have launched these courses in response to residents’ requests for more training and hope that it encourages more residents to get involved.
“Our goal is to give residents the confidence to run their own groups and to really make a difference in their community, either through running their own events or by helping us to shape our services. And many of the skills that residents learn from these courses can be put into practice in the workplace as well as their community groups.”
Details of all the courses are available on Merlin’s website, www.merlinhs.co.uk
