Merlin staff soak senior management for Red Nose Day
13 Mar 2009
Directors and senior managers at Merlin Housing Society were forced into the stocks to face their staff on Friday.
Managers endured two 45 minutes sessions of being pelted with wet sponges by staff, all to raise money for Red Nose Day. Five directors, including chief executive Ian Matthews, and three heads of service found themselves in the firing line in front of staff armed with dozens of soapy sponges.
Head of ICT Derek Hart was the most popular target, with staff handing over £27 to throw sponges at him / her. And together with money raised from a “wear red day” and a cake bake, staff raised £350 for Comic Relief.
Jennifer Griffiths, chairman of Merlin’s social and charity committee, said: “It was great fun and the senior managers were good sports for volunteering for the ordeal. Thanks to them we’ve raised lots of money for Comic Relief.”
