Kids get snap happy for Merlin

Youngsters from Merlin Housing Society’s Filton camera club have been snapping the sights of South Gloucestershire for the society’s annual report.
George Glover, Tiffani Seymour and Corey Croft spent a day taking pictures of people and places for a calendar which forms part of the report. The youngsters were accompanied by Bristol-based photographer David White, who was on hand to give them tips about what makes a good picture.
The tour of the region included residential areas, shopping centres, an allotment, plus a visit to the historic Grade 1 listed Acton Court.
"All three of them showed lots of interest in learning how to take a great picture and it was really pleasing to see the quality of photos they took on the day,” said David whose pictures have featured in the Guardian, Independent, and Marie Clare among others.
"I'm sure they'll get a great buzz from seeing their photos in the calendar when it is produced."
The youngsters are all members of a new camera club that has been set up by Merlin at the Church View flats complex in Filton. The club was the brainchild of Merlin Resident Involvement Project Manager Mike Dale, who is himself a keen amateur photographer.
“George, Tiffani and Corey have shown great enthusiasm for learning how to take the perfect picture since we launched the club, so we thought we’d ask them to take pictures for our annual report,” Mike said. “They’ve done a great job and we’re really pleased with the results and hope our residents will agree when they receive their calendar.”
