Families flock to fun afternoon

21 Jul 2009

Service Delivery Manager Sonia Key (L) and Community Investment Manager Verona Vidal (R) with 10-year-old Lucy Croker who went on to win the colouring competitionMerlin Housing Society was a big hit at the Patchway festival’s family fun afternoon.

The sun was shining as families flocked to the society’s stall at the fun day in Coniston Parade last week. The theme of this year’s festival is health and wellbeing and Merlin gave away goody bags of fruit and cereal bowls, which had been donated by Spar. Dozens of youngsters also took part in a colouring competition for the chance to win Toys R Us vouchers.

Service Delivery Manager Hazel Gray said: “It was an absolutely fabulous event. The weather was good and the kids were really keen to get stuck in and get involved. And the goody bags of fruit were really popular.

“We think it’s important that we get involved in events like this and show that we are part of the community. This event was a good chance to meet both our residents and other members of the neighbourhood, to talk about our work and have a good time.”

The Patchway festival runs until Sunday 26 July.
