National first for Merlin Works
27 Jul 2010

Merlin Housing Society’s arms length repairs and maintenance directorate Merlin Works, has become the first in the country to win a new national award.
Staff from Merlin Works travelled to London earlier in the month to receive the Housing Quality Network’s new direct labour organisation (DLO) accreditation. The accreditation is the only one in the UK specifically for DLOs working in social housing.
Merlin Works Interim Managing Director Geoff Wharton said: “We are privileged to be the first in the country to receive this accreditation. Our customers expect the best and we aim to provide exactly that. We are committed to providing local solutions for local problems and are delighted that HQN has recognised our efforts.”
The HQN Accredit: DLO award has been set up to showcase organisations that are providing an excellent service in the social housing sector. Recipients are acknowledged as being efficient, effective and economic companies that provide an excellent service to tenants and residents, as well as providing value for money services.
