Paul Richards

Independent Board Member

Paul’s day job is working for Housing21, a national provider of housing, health and care services for older people. In his role as Director of Housing Services, Paul looks after a portfolio of over 17,500 properties and support staff looking after the needs of over 20,000 residents.
 
Prior to joining Housing 21 in April 2007, Paul was Managing Director at Homeserve Heating Services and before that held senior management roles at British Gas and The AA. He is a qualified Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institute of Gas Engineers.

His main interest outside of work is music, he plays and teaches brass music to young players, and is chair of a charity that runs a youth brass brand in Swindon.

He brings to the board not just experience of housing and repairs, but strong experience of customer service delivery and change management expertise. His main ambition in his work for Merlin is to improve the quality of life for as many individuals as possible by ensuring we understand and meet the housing needs of residents as fully as possible.
