Become a Resident Auditor
We’d like your help to improve our services. Becoming an auditor is one way you can help us deliver high quality services to all our customers. We are recruiting a team of resident auditors to look at the different areas of services which we provide, to find out what works well and what we could do better.
What is the role of a Resident Auditor?
The purpose of the role is to carry out inspections and audits on the services we provide. You will investigate what we do well, and what we need to improve upon, to ensure that we are providing excellent services.
The aims of the resident auditors team are to:
• Assess the services we are providing
• Ensure that we are doing what we say we will do
• Make recommendations on how our services could be improved
What sort of things does a Resident Auditor get involved in?
Our auditors will get involved in things like:
• Carrying out mystery shopping exercises to assess the quality of services we provide
• Inspecting our reception areas
• Carrying out telephone surveys, to assess the views and experiences of residents who have recently used our services
• Scrutinising documents and files to check that we are following our policies and procedures
• Writing simple reports to help staff who run the services understand what will improve resident satisfaction.
Who can be a Resident Auditor?
To be involved in as a resident auditor you must:
• Be a current Merlin resident
• Or be a representative of a community in which residents live.
• Be willing to undertake basic training about the aims of the role, and the skills, attitudes and techniques necessary to carry out the identified tasks.
You cannot become a resident auditor if you:
• A Merlin employee
• Have a current court order against you for breach of your tenancy agreement or lease.

How much time is required?
It will probably be two or three days per month. You’ll also have to attend around eight days of training before you can carry out any inspections. We will split up the training into separate days.
