If you have any problems with your lease you should contact your area housing office in the first instance.
Noise
If you cannot sort out your problem by talking to your neighbour, you should talk to us or contact the council’s environmental protection team
If you contact our customer service advisors, an appointment can be made for a housing officer to talk to your neighbour about the problem. They will also agree an action plan with you. If you feel threatened by your neighbours' actions, or if there is any criminal activity involved, you should contact the police.This may lead to legal action against your neighbour and you may have to give evidence.
Domestic abuse
We are committed to tackling all forms of domestic abuse, and anyone found committing it is in breach of their lease conditions. This could lead to legal action and ultimately to them losing their home. Domestic abuse is a serious problem. If you or a member of your family is experiencing domestic abuse, we will investigate it thoroughly and do all we can to stop it. Domestic abuse means “any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality”. If you experience any form of domestic abuse, please contact us and report the incident.
Hate crimes
We are committed to tackling all forms of hate crime, and anyone found committing it is in breach of their lease conditions. This could lead to legal action and ultimately to loss of their home. Hate crime is a serious problem. If you and a member of your family are experiencing hate crime, we will investigate it thoroughly and do all we can to stop it. We can also support you in reporting incidents to the police.
A hate crime can be verbal or physical. It can be an attack on a person or on a property, an individual or a group. It can include:
- Verbal or written abuse
- Physical assault
- Damage to property or arson
Harassment includes physical attacks on people and damage to property, and also verbal abuse and other behaviour that deprives people of the peaceful enjoyment of their homes.
