The link will take you to our online payments system where you can pay your rent. You’ll need the 15 digit number from your swipe card and the money will be credited to your account within two days. In the future, we intend to make it possible for you to pay your rent direct to us through this website, as well as log into your account and print off statements.

How to pay your rent

The money we collect as rent pays for all the services we provide and the improvements we make, so it is important that rent is paid in full and on time. If you are having difficulty paying your rent contact us as soon as possible to see how we can help.

There are a number of ways that you can pay your rent but having a bank account will increase the choices available to you. If you do not have a bank account and would like one ask your local bank branch about a basic bank account. Most people are able to open one, even if they have had difficulty with a bank in the past.

For some methods of payment you will need a rent account swipe card, you can ask for one from your area housing office.

By Direct Debit
The easiest way to pay your rent is by Direct Debit. We will take your instruction and set up the arrangement with your bank. The Direct Debit is kept in line with your rent account and is automatically adjusted if the amount of rent you pay changes. You are protected by the Direct Debit guarantee which means we have to give you advance notice of any change in the value claimed. Payment is taken from your bank account automatically on the first working day of each month. To set up a direct debit payment, simply fill in this form and return it to us by the 10th of the month for payments to be set up in time for the following month.

Post Office or Paypoint agent
You can pay by cash or cheque at the Post Office with your rent account swipe card. The payment will take three working days to appear on your rent account. Paypoint agents can only take cash payments. Please keep your receipts.

Pay online with a debit card
You can pay your rent right now, by clicking here and following the instructions.  Payment will be credited to your rent account within two days.

Pay over the phone with a debit card
You can call 0845 111 0664 to pay with your debit card. Payment will be credited to your rent account within two days.

Pay by Standing Order
If you wish to pay weekly or monthly by Standing Order you will need to complete an instruction and pass it directly to your bank. Standing Orders do not vary and you will need to change the instruction with your bank each time the rent value changes each March, or if your circumstances change. If you would like an automated payment that we can change automatically in response to your rent account you should choose a Direct Debit.

Housing Benefit
If you are struggling to pay your rent because you are on a low income, from paid work or benefits, you may be entitled to Housing Benefit. Depending on your individual cicrumstances you may receive rent payment in full, in part, or the claim may be declined. Claims are made to South Gloucestershire Council. You can do a simple check to see if you might be entitled, using the Government's  Benefits Calculator. If it shows you may be eligible, you will still need to complete an application form that is available from the council or from your housing office.

The liability for payment of rent will remain with you so it is important that you speak to your housing office to let them know when a claim has been made. They will be able to help you prevent your rent account from going into arrears, to keep arrears to a minimum and can explain how we manage rent debt.

Most tenants choose to have their Housing Benefit paid directly to us, because it is more convenient for them. When completing the Housing Benefit application form you can choose this option.

You are responsible for ensuring any information asked for by South Gloucestershire Council to asses your claim is provided to them in good time. Your housing office will be able to help if you are having difficulty.

Having difficulty paying your rent?

Rent is due weekly on a Monday and is paid in advance. Every quarter we'll send you a rent statement that shows all the payments you have made.

Rent charges are calculated over a 52 week year but collected over 48 weeks; the remaining four weeks are non-collection weeks, unless you are in arrears. If you are in arrears you should be talking to your area housing office. Read our rent leaflet for more information.

If you are having difficulty paying your rent, or know that you will be soon, you should contact your area housing office as soon as possible. We will be able to help and may be able to make an arrangement for repayment.

If you are having difficulty and you don’t contact us for help we will have to take steps to recover the rent debt. In some circumstances this can lead to action to take possession of the property.

Your home is at risk if you do not pay your rent.

Checking your rent statement
We will send you four rent statements every year, showing you the payments you have made. In the future you will also be able to check out your rent statement online through this website. However, if you want to know now, contact your area housing office.
