Supported living

Getting older doesn’t mean giving up on choice. Our sheltered accommodation offers residents aged over 60 a secure, manageable home and the opportunity to be part of a community of like minded people.

We have more than 1,400 supported housing properties at 50 schemes across South Gloucestershire. Our bungalows and apartments are designed with the needs of older people in mind, with access to community facilities and the added peace of mind of an emergency 24 hour lifeline. If you need extra support now or at some point in the future, we offer daily welfare check visits, and can co-ordinate support from external agencies.

In 2009 we moved to a system of tailoring the support we offer to residents in our sheltered schemes to meet their individual needs. All new residents have their needs assessed when they move in and our teams of support advisors will then deliver bespoke support to them. The level of support provided to an individual resident is regularly reviewed and adjusted according to each person’s changing needs.

The change means we no longer have scheme managers who live on site, but a team of support advisors who go out to visit residents at all the schemes in their area every day.

To apply to live in one of our sheltered properties, you will have to register with South Gloucestershire Council’s choice-based lettings scheme, HomeChoice.
