Villagers learn about redevelopment

Residents in a South Gloucestershire village have been learning about redevelopment work which is due to start in the near future.

We held a consultation session with residents in Coalpit Heath on Tuesday to introduce them to our contractors Lovell. We’ve appointed the national construction company to build 72 new homes in the village and nearby Iron Acton. The new homes will replace 44 old properties that are in poor condition.

Last year we worked with Lovell to successfully build 39 new homes in Coalpit Heath. Work on the 72 new homes is due to get underway in the coming weeks, and forms part of our ongoing development programme to help tackle the region’s housing crisis.

All of the properties being replaced were built after the Second World War as a quick solution to the housing shortage. But in recent years their condition has deteriorated, and they are expensive to heat and have issues with damp and draughts.
