Forty new affordable homes will be coming to Whitchurch over the next two years thanks to Merlin.
We've secured a £5.5m deal with national housebuilders Barratt Homes to take on 40 of the new homes being built off of Queen Charlton Lane in the village. It’s the latest in a series of deals we have completed with developers to increase the number of affordable homes being built in the region.
The 40 homes will be a mixture on one-bedroom flats and two, three and four bedroom houses. Twenty-nine homes will be available to rent, with the remaining 11 available for shared ownership. The rental homes will include some properties which have been specially adapted for wheelchair users.
Development Manager James Mcloughlin said: “We’re delighted to be working with Barratt Homes again to bring these affordable homes to the village. We’re already working with Barratt on three other projects locally and look forward to building on this relationship in Whitchurch.
“There’s a huge demand for affordable housing in the area and with its great links to Bristol and Bath we’re sure these homes are going to be popular.”
Last year we completed a record 131 new homes and is aiming to increase this further to 230 by the end of 2017-18. The homes in Whitchurch will be completed in phases between June 2018 and December 2019. Details of the shared ownership homes will be available on our sales page.
