Residents have tucked into tea and cake to celebrate the official re-opening of their independent living scheme.
We invited delighted customers from Buckingham House in Filton to a tea party at the scheme last week to mark the end of the £1.5m programme of work. Over the past few months we've refurbished all of the flats and redecorated all of the communal spaces at the scheme from top to bottom. We've also converted eight bedsits and the former warden's flat into six modern, one bedroom flats, as part of our ongoing commitment to manage and maintain the quality of our homes.
Some of the residents remained living at Buckingham House while the work took place, among them Paul Williams who officially opened the refurbished scheme at the tea party. He used to live in one of the bedsits which has now been converted into a one-bedroom home and thanked Merlin for all the improvements that had been made.
“We had got used to how it was before but when you see how it looks now, it’s amazing. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t want to live here.”
Patrick Murphy, one of the new residents, added: "I can't belive the size of my place. It's great."
