A junior football team are kicking off the new season in style thanks to the efforts of Merlin and United Living staff.
Last week staff from the housing association and its development contractors spent a day at Emersons Green Junior Football Club decorating the home and away dressing rooms. The rooms were given a complete face-lift, with the walls, ceilings and benches all repainted during the course of the day.
The work was part of United Living’s annual community day, which saw staff from across the business volunteer at community projects right across the country. Our staff took part as part of their volunteering programme which aims to donate £50,000 worth of staff time to local causes by March 2019.
Mark Perry, area manager (Wales and South West) for United Living, said: “With the support of Merlin and our supply chain, our team have pulled out all stops for community day this year and we’re immensely proud of the results. The newly refurbished changing rooms at Emerson Green Juniors are testament to the strong partnership ethos that we bring to all of our construction projects, demonstrating that it’s possible to go beyond the bricks and mortar and make a real difference in the communities where we work.”
Merlin Development Officer Shane Smith added: “There was a lot of teamwork that went into it and it was great to complete our goal of finishing all the work in one day. It looked great when it was finished. Hopefully the club will go on to have a successful season.”
We've appointed United Living to build 21 new homes on two sites in Beaufort Road and Blackhorse Lane, next door to the football club. The homes are a mixture of one and two bedroom flats and two and three bedroom homes, which will be available for rent and to buy through shared ownership.
The homes form part of our expanding homebuilding programme, which aims to complete 500 homes over the next two years.
