We've completed our fifth deal in 12 months with national developer Taylor Wimpey which will deliver 175 affordable new properties in the region.
In the past month we have finalised two contracts with Taylor Wimpey to acquire the new homes that the developer is building at Lyde Green and Quedgeley. The deals follow on from our acquisition of properties at Taylor Wimpey developments in Portishead, Stoke Gifford and Emersons Green.
Head of Development Amanda Swann said: “We’re delighted to be working with Taylor Wimpey once again to bring these new homes to Quedgeley and Lyde Green, as well as the other areas. There’s no shortage of demand for quality, affordable homes across all areas, and by offering a proportion of the homes for shared ownership we’ll also be helping people realise their home ownership dream.
“Gloucestershire is an important area for us, especially looking forward, so we’re delighted to have been able to secure homes in these areas, with Taylor Wimpey. Our partnership with Bromford will allow us to build 14,000 homes over the next ten years and the aim is to build half of these homes in the county to meet the growing need for quality affordable housing.”
Charlie Joseph, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol, added: “It’s important that new-build properties are accessible to every buyer on the property ladder and we’re delighted to work with Merlin to make this so in Quedgeley and Lyde Green.”
We are acquiring 34 new homes at Lyde Green, of which 27 will be rented out, with seven available to buy through shared ownership. The homes will be a mixture of two, three, four and five bedroom flats and homes which will be completed in phases over the next three years. In Quedgeley we have bought 40 homes which will also be a mixture of rented and shared ownership houses and flats.
Last year we completed 186 new homes, our highest figure to date. But over the coming 12 months our target is to build more than 300.
