Shared ownership homes at our Beaufort Mews development in Downend have gone on sale as construction of the new homes draws to a close.
We’re building 16 new homes on the site of former garages at Beaufort Road and an additional five homes on a nearby site next to Walker Playing Field in Blackhorse Lane. The homes, which have been part-financed with £600,000 of funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, are part of our expanding development programme which this year will deliver more than 300 affordable new homes in the area.
The shared ownership homes which are now available to buy are a three-bedroom house and four two-bedroom. Prices start at £115,000 for one of two-bedroom homes. Two additional shared ownership homes will be available in the near future.
Sales Manager Jon Wakefield said: “These houses look amazing and will make a very happy home for five lucky families. We’ve had lots of interest in these homes already and expect them to sell fast, so are encouraging anyone interested to apply quickly.
“There is a real shortage of affordable housing in the area. Research from the National Housing Federation’s Home Truths report has shown the average house price in South Gloucestershire has reached £274,777, more than ten times average income. Our shared ownership homes at Beaufort Mews are a fantastic way for people to affordably own their own home.”
Work on the new homes began last year after we appointed United Living to carry out the work and is due to be completed ready for people to move into later this summer.
The 16 rental homes are a mixture of one and two bedroom flats and two and three bedroom homes and will be advertised on South Gloucestershire Council’s Homechoice system this summer.
