Merlin CEO Robert Nettleton has met with representatives from council's across the South West to discuss how to boost housing delivery.
The meeting - which had representatives from South Gloucestershire, BANES, Bristol and North Somerset Council - looked at ways to deliver the number of properties identified as part of the consultation on a Joint Spatial Plan for the West of England, and also included the CEOs from Sovereign and Knightstone.
The plan provides a framework for 105,000 new homes in the next 20 years, of which 32,000 will need to be affordable. With registered providers like Merlin in the area set to deliver 23,000, the meeting also focused on how the shortfall could be met by more closer partnership working between local authorities and housing associations.
"It was a really good discussion on the key elements needed to achieve the JSP targets," said Robert. " Over the next five years, we'll be delivering approaching 1500 new homes in the West of England area."
